3D printing is a form of additive manufacturing technology where a three dimensional object is created by laying down successive layers of material. 3D printers are generally faster, more affordable and easier to use than other additive manufacturing technologies. The RepRap printer, called “Mendel” after the father of genetics, is the second, improved version of RepRap: small enough to fit on your desk, but with a print volume large enough for you to make big things. Check out their website and a whole slew of instructional videos.
