December Newsletter

If you build it they will come

Last month we had two wildly successful tech-events: a global 3D Printing Meetup (hosted by Make Magazine), and a Raspberry Pi hacking event dubbed the “Raspberry Jam.” It was a tiny triumph for us that we beat out major makerspaces in Seattle and New York in our race to gather RSVPs. And we take it as a point of pride that these cutting-edge tools are being programmed and hacked right here at the Columbus Idea Foundry. One of the reasons we believe the Idea Foundry has the potential to become a leader among makerspaces is because of the amazing energy on display here every time we gather for events. It’s more than power-tools and workshop-space: when you put a bunch of talented brains into the same room you can’t help but get ideas bouncing around, colliding and recombining.

It’s true what they say: build it and they will come.

But we’ve got one better: come here and build it! (We can show you how!)

Events this December

Open House

Join us for our Winter Open House and Artist Exhibit! Take a tour, enjoy complimentary refreshments, meet instructors, and sample the talented artists and artisans who call the Idea Foundry home. You might even find a gift! Sunday, Dec 16, Noon-4pm. Please RSVP.

Adobe User Group: Digital Holiday Meetup

Do you use Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Indesign? On Wednesday Dec 4th, Columbus Digital is meeting at the Idea Foundry. Come learn some spiffy Illustrator tricks, then join an ornament-making demo on our laser cutter and CNC router. There’s even a raffle for $2100 worth of software. The event is free but the demos are $12. Doors open at 6pm.
