The Columbus Idea Foundry (CIF) and the Franklinton Development Association (FDA) recently jointly received a $350,000 grant from ArtPlace America, which will help us with relocating to a new warehouse space in the East Franklinton Neighborhood. Funds from the grant will be used by the Franklinton Development Association to renovate the warehouse at 421 West State Street, a location which will allow CIF to expand on our mission to teach people who want to learn and provide tool and technology access to people who want to make.
As one of only 54 applications from a pool of over 1,200 to receive funding, the project is part of a third round of funding from ArtPlace America, a collaboration of 13 leading national and regional foundations and six of the nation’s largest banks who has invested over $42 million into the effort of accelerating creative placemaking.
“This is a huge stamp of approval from our country’s most expert and saavy national foundations and public funders,” said Douglas F. Kridler, president and CEO of The Columbus Foundation. ”We would be wise to see this as they do – the Columbus Idea Foundry is the right catalyst at the right time, led by the right people, and deserves our support.”
