Job hunting is already a tough process in this economy. HR departments receive hundreds of applications for a position and most of the applicants use black and white, standard resumes without any graphics that would help to distinguish from others. Having a visually appealing and professional looking resume is as important as the content in it. This class will give you an advantage over other applicants by helping you to design your resume under professional supervision. You will improve the quality of the graphics as well as the legibility of your resume. You will also learn how to create your own appealing and effective logo.

Teaching Methods:

You will learn basics of Adobe Illustrator CS2 to create your new resume. This version is free software that you can download at: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html.

This is a two hour class. In the first half, the instructor will talk about basics of graphic design, logo creation and Adobe Illustrator. Second part will be a workshop that instructor will work with students and give creative feedback to improve their designs. After the completion of the class, you will also receive feedback from the instructor via email up to twice after class.

You will have a resume that will stand out, improving the odds that your name will be recognized and remembered by the employers, and your resume content will receive the attention it deserves.

Bring to Class:

You will need to bring your existing resume in digital format and a laptop with Adobe Illustrator installed.

About the Instructor:

Mert Sondac has BS in Industrial Design and Master’s degree in Design Research from The Ohio State University. He is a lecturer at the Ohio State University, College of Design; among his course offerings, he teaches a class specifically geared towards the resume design process.
