Jewelry-Making: Collage piece collar necklace
Description:
Learn to plan, design, and construct the ever-popular "collar necklace." Develop a theme or a collage of pretty baubles, buttons or other trinkets for a custom conversation piece. This technique can scale to high-end offerings for your own handmade jewelry line or just learn to make them for yourself!
In this two-part class, you will learn:
How to develop a template, choosing an appropriate textile, designing a complex collage piece, hand-sewing beads and other jewelry pieces, using fusable interfacing to add a backing, and attaching a necklace chain.
Materials included: Assorted laser cut necklace forms in a variety of fabrics from which to choose, interfacing or fabric glue (depending on your project's needs), assorted ribbon/trim, threading, basic necklace chain with lobster claw clasp.
You have the option of choosing from a wide assortment of buttons, charms, and glass and acrylic beads available OR you can opt to bring your own preferred beads, gemstones, or focal pieces. Please select if you would like the "CLASS PLUS BEAD KIT" option from the drop-down menu upon registration if you need to reserve beading supplies. If you do not select this option, it will be assumed you are bringing your own material to sew onto your collage necklace.
This is a two-part class. The first class is Monday, February 25th, 6:30-9pm and the second class is Wednesday, February 27 from 6:30-8:30pm.
Taught by Etsy Team Columbus leader and jeweler Casey McCarty whose work can be found in several central Ohio boutiques.
