Join us for our second Open House & Artisan Exhibit at the Columbus Idea Foundry!

Take a tour of our soon-to-be-expanding facility and enjoy a sampling of our many talented artists, artisans, inventors, instructors, and fabricators.

Many of our artists and craftsman will be showing off their latest worksfor sale!

Meet CIF instructors who will be on-hand to showcase the hands-on projects you can make at the Foundry and answer your questions.

We'll also have live demonstrations of table-top 3D printing with Ethan Dicks, our electronics & embedded control instructor, and Terry Griner, our metal casting instructor will offer make-and-take pewter casting from your own plaster carving for just $5 per cast!

Take home a personalized acrylic ear-bud holder laser cut while you watch also for $5.  Supplies will be limited, first-come, first-serve--unless you pre-order (below)!

Kumiko Matsuura will be hosting a DIY terrarium and a  Kokedama Planter (a Japanese bonsai technique). The Terrarium includes a container, two plants, rocks, moss, and decor such as re-purposed blown glass and stained glass, rocks and branches. You can choose between a desert environment or an enclosed tropical garden. Build your own little self-sustaining environment! Kokedama is a unique bonsai planting technique that uses clay soil, moss and string to bind the plant's root structures into a perfect sphere. Take home a very easy to care for plant. KT_email

Over a third of our 115-member community represent creative entrepreneurs-- some will be on hand to demonstrate their latest inventions and projects, from a customizable tailgate system to a Raspberry Pi-driven indoor hydroponic agriculture system.  The CIF has been home to successful Kickstarter campaigns and our members enjoy the tools & tech needed to turn product ideas into reality!

The event is free and open to the public, with complementary refreshments.

RSVPs recommended, free, by selecting "RSVP" below.  To pre-pay for optional event make-and-takes, choose your option from the list (you can pre-order multiples).  Please feel free to contact us during open hours to provide credit card info by phone 614.531.8218. Sorry, we'll only be able to accept cash for the make-and-take stations the day of the event.
