The Handmade Marketplace: Getting Started on Etsy Seminar
Description:
If you are an artist, artisan or craftsman, and you aren't on Etsy, you're missing out on your share of millions of shop hits and sales generated by Etsy customers. Etsy is the most popular and well-known handcrafted marketplace, and it's an accessible way for you to gain exposure for your art, craft, or hobby--from fine artists, to jewelers, to woodworkers, sculptors, digital artists, and beyond.
It's relatively easy to set up a shop on Etsy, but it's not so easy to make it work for you. Having inside knowledge of what works and what doesn't on the Etsy platform can save you months or longer of trial and error.
If you're a current Etsy seller but maybe not giving it the attention it needs, join us to rev up your visibility in time for the holidays!
In this Etsy bootcamp, you'll learn the following:
-Setting up a shop (we'll cover the basics of what different settings mean and their pros and cons)
-Item photography that works (and a plethora of free and effective resources to help you out without needing huge investments in equipment and software)
-effective item descriptions and tags
-How to understand your site statistics and how to improve them
-How to navigate the Etsy community, teams, circles, and more; and yes, they matter!
-how to access useful, but hard-to-find beta features on Etsy
-Using your Etsy shop as one part of a multi-channel artisan business that includes local retail shops and in-person sales--your real money may be from leveraging your Etsy portfolio to sell locally!
Taught by CIF Assistant Director, Etsy shop owner and Etsy Team Columbus leader Casey McCarty, whose work appears in several central Ohio boutiques and galleries.
What you will need:
You should bring a laptop if possible, and be sure to know your login credentials of your Etsy shop.
If you do not currently have an Etsy shop, you can set one up by visiting www.etsy.com and establishing a merchant account (it's free to establish and you can make changes later) --though it's free to establish an account, you must be able to take payments before you can add items).
If you don't have an Etsy shop, and don't wish to set one up yet, that's perfectly fine, you can watch along a projected presentation with screen shots, and you will receive a copy of the presentation and links to resources after the class. Keep in mind, however, it won't be as "hands on" as if you can follow along on your own site.
If you don't have or don't want to set up an Etsy shop now, or don't have a laptop, you can still follow along with us on the projector, and still take note of the resources for when you're ready.
We are sorry but registration for this event is now closed.
Please contact us if you would like to know if spaces are still available.
