Producing a Promotional Video for Crowd Funding

Includes video lab time in between classes. Please plan on working in between classes, which means carving out 3-4 hours a week outside of class to work on this, if you want to make a great quality video!

You need to make a video that gets the word out about your organization or nonprofit. (IE. you’re doing an IndieGogo, Fundable or Kickstarter campaign.) You’ve got a consumer-grade HD video camera, a tripod and a computer that has some really basic editing software. How do you use these tools to put together something that actually looks good?

  • Session 1
    • The story and the plan, and how to best use the camera you’ve got.
    • What’s reasonable vs. what’s possible.
  • Session 2
    • The interview or the script and preparing to film your project
    • The importance of good sound and how to get it.
    • Lighting basics.
  • Session 3
    • Recording the talent.
    • What to do with the footage now that you’ve gotten it.
  • Session 4
    • The rough-cut.
    • Edit. Watch. Repeat.

 

  • Session 5
    • Titles, transitions and sound effects.
  • Session 6
    • Critique and how to publish your piece

Class will meet on the following days:

April 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and May 1, at 7-9 PM
