MIG Welding and Plasma Cutting: Mini Grill
This class is intended for beginner welders and those looking to brush up on rusty skills while building something fun and useful. The class will involve basic fabrication technique, using plasma cutters, mig welders, and grinders. Students will use these to cut parts, tack-weld into place, fully weld, and grind all corners smooth. Each student will make and take home a small grill.
This class should take 3-4 hours, but students needing additional time are welcome to schedule another night if needed.
Completion of this class qualifies members to rent the welder/welding area in the future for other projects. After completing this class you will be able to walk up to any MIG welder in our shop and set it up to properly weld on your own. This class focuses on MIG welding carbon steel, the principles apply to other metals and alloys but may require additional instruction.

TIG Welding
This workshop covers the basics of how to TIG weld. TIG welding is a versatile and precise way of welding in which the resulting welds are both aesthetically and structurally sound. The workshop will cover how to properly setup the machine for welding mild carbon steel and stainless steel. Time will be spent on how to prepare the material properly and how to setup the machine to get the optimal weld produced.
Each person taking the workshop will have plenty of hands on practice as they are guided through the do’s and don’ts of TIG welding. Each participant will learn to lay down a weld bead on flat plate stock and then learn how to successfully join plates together at a different array of angles and welding scenarios.
Course Prerequisites:
This course is intended for persons with previous arc or MIG welding experience, either through attending a previous CIF MIG Welding and Plasma Cutting workshop, other institutional course, or work experience.
